This great article was taken from Outback Girls blog. I wanted to save it in my blog also for not to forget it in the future.
Scrap Faster (My Secret Tip) by Saxon Holt
The other day, someone mentioned wishing their pages didn’t take so long to make. She went so far as to say that her digital pages sometimes take her several hours and or days to complete. She spoke of taking so long just to find the elements, that it seemed like such a relief to finally get down to the task of scrapping. But, basically, she had one simple question – How could she scrap faster and make the most of her 30 minutes per day of scrapping time.
Here is my solution to the “scrap-fast” dilemma. I hope that some of you will try it, and IF you do, PLEASE come back and share your experiences!
Here is how it works. Open up a new blank canvas in whatever program you use. Now, go find the picture(s) you want to scrap and plop them onto the blank canvas. (Never mind that you haven’t worked them over with filters etc., just put them on there AS-IS) Next, go looking for the paper(s) you want for the page. Plop them on there – not evenly, not stacked, just drag and DROP them. Do this with elements too…go find things you’d like to use or think look nice….not to worry if there are 25-30 of them. Just drag them on there. Last, open your text and type in where, when and any other important details on a separate layer.
Now, go make a folder on your desktop/HD that is called WORKS IN PROGRESS. Once that is created, go back to your sloppy page and name it. (Mine say WIP-nameofpage) Once it is named, save it as a png/layered file to the Works In Progress folder and don’t worry over it.
I try to stock-pile several of these in that folder so that when I have my 30 minutes of peace, I can open it up and EVERYTHING is waiting for me to place in order and create with. No searching for elements, no stopping and thinking about the dates. None of that to interrupt my creative flow.
